Set on 11,000-hectares, Gondwana Game Reserve holds the distinction of being the only Fynbos reserve in the world with free roaming Big Five game as well as endangered species like the Cape Mountain Zebra, Black Rhinoceros, and Black Harrier among many others. Its breathtaking beauty will sooth and delight you with its endless mountain views and green rolling hills blanketed in colourful fynbos.

Beacon House Knysna

Arguably the most striking geological feature along the South African Garden Route are the The  Heads in Knysna, these sandstone headlands flank the deep and sometimes treacherous channel which floods the Knysna lagoon.

It is against the Eastern head at the mouth to the Indian Ocean, that Beacon House has been created, featuring 4 ultra spacious and luxurious apartments.

Beacon House is the ideal base from which to explore the wonders that characterise this spectacular Garden Route town.

Each of the serviced apartments provides guests with the flexibility of a self catering environment allowing optimal freedom to design your own itinerary. The design reflects an easy living holiday atmosphere, whilst incorporating sleek modern finishes.

A walkway within the development provides residents with access to the various stunning view points at the Heads.

Beacon House is situated in close proximity to Fountain Point, a white beacon used as a guiding point for sailors attempting to negotiate the passage through the Heads. Built into the side of a steep slope, Beacon House boasts views both across the lagoon and out to sea.

Beacon House is situated within walking distance of the lagoon, a restaurant and a coffee bar and offers ample parking for visitors.

Protea Hotel Mossel Bay

The luxurious 31-roomed Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is a graceful landmark, built in 1846, overlooking Santos Bay and harbour. Nestling on the Mossel Bay shoreline with the majestic Outeniqua mountains as a backdrop, the Protea Hotel Mossel Bay is singled out from other establishments.

The stone walls and Mediterranean-style out-buildings belie the fact that the main building is one of the oldest in Mossel Bay and forms part of the Dias Museum Complex.

The Protea Hotel Mossel Bay complex comprises 31 designer-decorated units, ranging from 23 three star en-suite rooms to eight 4 star self-catering harbour suites. The rooms’ various categories range from standard, family and manor rooms to harbour and presidential suite.

The Turbine Hotel

As recent as 50 years ago, Knysna’s power was derived from a wood fired turbine, and ironically this power station was and remains a part of this superb location along the garden route. Thesen Island as it is called is home to a collection of up-market homes linked to each other and the Knysna lagoon through a series of water ways. Several years ago an ambitious project to transform the power station into a boutique hotel began, the result of which is breathtaking in its ‘industrial’ mystique. Given the heritage status of the power station, most of the primary components were left in position and now form an integral part of the theme of the hotel.

The Turbine Hotel and Spa has 24 bedrooms and suites and an Amani African Spa. The rooms all have “state of the art” accessories. Some bedrooms have balconies and on the ground level, they have their own delightful garden. The honeymoon “Oyster” suite is situated at the top of the hotel and is splendid.

The Island Café is a unique 90 seater restaurant and ideal for breakfasts, lunches and a la carte dinners and has won the Diners Club Platinum Award for its wine list. In addition there is The Turbine Tapas Bar where you can enjoy light meals.

Additional facilities include conferencing for up to 60 delegates, a pool and a jetty with guest mooring and a motorized pontoon for sunset cruises on the lagoon.

The Views Boutique Hotel & Spa

VIEWS Boutique Hotel & Spa has 18 exquisitely furnished rooms and suites designed for absolute comfort. Modern, eclectic and fresh, all have private en-suite bathrooms that are sure to delight. Natural light floods through frameless glass windows, bringing the outdoors in. Spectacular Indian Ocean views to the south and the Outeniqua Mountains to the north. A range of suites are available from De Luxe to romantic Honeymoon Suites, culminating in the stunning Penthouse Suites – all offering 5 star qualities.

Wilderness Beach is reason enough to visit Views. Here it really does seem as though time has stood still with kilometers of safe, secluded and uninterrupted beach.

The ever-changing reef offshore guards the coastline and provides contrasting conditions from raging white water to tranquil aqua tidal pools. At low tide, all manner of tidal creatures are to be found - spectacularly coloured sea anemones, comical sand crabs, and for the lucky, maybe even a glimpse of the shy octopus, whales and dolphins.

The Spa uses a blend of marine technology and the latest spa treatments to restore balance and wellness. Discover the therapeutic benefits of The Views’ treatments … the soothing waters of the vitality pool, thermal qualities of the Tylarium Sauna and Rasul Steam Room or simply relax in the tranquil surrounds of our Hydrotherapy Lounge.

The Views Boutique Hotel & Spa situated on the Wilderness Beach truly is therapy for the soul.

Oyster tasting, elephant viewing, cruises to the Heads & Featherbed Nature Reserve as well as a journey on the Steam Train all make for interesting day trips. The unique and most exciting feature of this area is the abundance in marine mammals in the bay which is flanked by two marine nature reserves and therefore rich in food for the resident whales and dolphins. During July to September every year, Southern Right Whales migrate to this part of the Indian Ocean to calve. Huge schools of dolphin surfing the breakers or leaping clear of the blue sea, are a regular sight throughout the year.
